Overview
A 10DLC brand represents the business, organization, or sender responsible for sending SMS/MMS traffic over U.S. 10-digit long code numbers. Before a company can register a 10DLC campaign, a brand must be created, verified, and accepted through the 10DLC registration workflow. 10DLC registration helps mobile carriers identify legitimate business messaging traffic, reduce spam, and apply appropriate routing, throughput, and filtering rules.
Creating a Brand in the Trunking.io Portal
To create a Brand, navigate to the Messaging tab in the Trunking.io portal and select My Brands. You can begin the process by clicking Create New Brand.
Tip: The first page of the Brand creation workflow provides a list of information required for Brand registration. Step 1: Legal Identity
Provide the legal, registered information for the brand owner.
- Company Legal Name - The official legal name of the business, nonprofit, government entity, or organization that owns the messaging traffic
- Brand DBA / Display Name - The public-facing name, trade name, or doing-business-as name recognized by customers
- Organization Type - The legal structure of the organization registering the brand
- Country of Registration - The country where the business or organization is legally registered
- Tax Number / ID - The company’s official tax identification number. For U.S. companies, this is typically the EIN, or Employer Identification Number
Organization Type Examples
- Private Company - LLC, corporation, partnership, or privately owned business with an EIN/Tax ID
- Public Company - Publicly traded company listed on a recognized exchange
- Nonprofit Organization - Registered nonprofit, typically with nonprofit tax status
- Government Entity - U.S. federal, state, local, or tribal government organization
Step 2: Registered Address
Provide the official, registered address for the business. The address should be consistent with business registration records whenever possible.
Common Address Mistakes
- Using a home address when the business has a registered office address
- Using an old address
- Using a PO Box where a physical address is expected
- Missing a suite or unit number
- Using a customer-facing store address that does not match tax records
- Entering the billing address instead of the registered business address
Step 3: Operating Information
Operating Information is used to identify where the business can be verified online and what type of business or messaging category applies to the company.
- Company Website - The official website or domain for the business or organization registering the brand
Website Requirements
- Active and publicly accessible
- Connected to the business being registered
- Professional and complete enough to verify the company
- Consistent with the legal company name, DBA, or display name
- Relevant to the messaging use case

Step 4: Brand Contacts
The Brand Contacts page identifies who should be contacted if there are questions about the brand registration, verification, compliance review, or messaging activity. This section should be completed with accurate, monitored contact information.
- Support Brand Email - The email address used to contact the brand for support-related questions. This email may be used for operational questions, registration issues, customer support concerns, or follow-up items related to the brand
- Primary Business Email - The main email address associated with the business for verification and compliance notices
- Phone Number - The phone number associated with the brand contact or business. This number may be used if additional follow-up is needed regarding the brand registration or compliance review
- First / Last Name - The name of the person responsible for the brand contact
Best Practices
- Customers should use an email address that:
- Belongs to the business or organization
- Is monitored regularly
- Can receive support or compliance-related communication
- Is not a no-reply inbox
- Is not a temporary or placeholder address
- Can be accessed by more than one person, if possible
Brand Registration FAQ
Why does the EIN or Tax ID need to match the legal company name?
The EIN or Tax ID is used to verify the identity of the brand. If the legal company name does not match the EIN or Tax ID records, the brand may fail verification or require correction before campaigns can be registered.
What website should be entered during brand registration?
Customers should enter the primary website associated with the business or organization registering the brand. The website should be active, publicly accessible, and clearly connected to the legal company name or DBA.
Who should be listed as the brand contact?
The brand contact should be a real, authorized person or monitored business inbox that can respond to support, verification, or compliance questions.
